Transforming a workspace into a residential home
This architecture, layout and decoration project is a bold undertaking of total renovation and spatial reorganization, aimed at converting a monotonous office space into a charming home with a lively ambience. A bathroom, kitchen, living room and bedroom were created, redistributing the existing volume.
Located in the heart of the historic Marais district, in a building that is emblematic of the area, the site of this project possesses an intrinsic charm. However,Juliette Laurens' team discovered an office or, more precisely, a 60-square-meter plateau, devoid of character, which was to be transformed into living space.
The project aimed to create a warm living space with artistic, colorful and highly personalized decor, while restoring the distinctive charm of the Marais buildings dating from the 1830s.
The challenge was to break the linearity of this elongated space, while highlighting its series of windows. Juliette Laurens' decorating architects therefore chose to preserve an open living space, centered around a kitchen with an island cooktop, ideal for cooking in front of guests, guaranteeing convivial moments.
The kitchen's sobriety was chosen to highlight the credenza, created with hand-painted ceramics by ceramic artist Alain Vagh, in shades of red, black and gold. The black handles add a modern touch, echoing the color of the glittery galaxy black granite worktop, whose reflections add a sparkling luminosity.
The bedroom, meanwhile, was fitted out with a reclaimed wooden door, integrated into the Marais style, and arranged so as to keep the window in view, to ensure a sense of space and depth. The superb original beams were uncovered to recapture the charm of yesteryear, while the walls were painted white to maximize light in this courtyard-facing apartment.
This project, carried out to the highest standards by the expertise and creativity of our architecture and interior design agency, is the result of the inspiration and technical know-how of our team of professionals.
